Williamsport, Pa. -- The 22nd-ranked wrestling team (6-0) remained unbeaten, topping Thiel 32-10 in the opening round of Lycoming's Budd Whitehill National Duals. Ithaca will face #12 Springfield in a quarterfinal match Friday at 3 p.m. The Bombers are seeded sixth in the 20-team tournament; Springfield is seeded third.

Freshman Chad Winowich (Abington Heights/Clarks Summit, Pa.) recorded a fall at 133 and sophomore John Paxos (Roxbury, N.J./Succasunna, N.J.) won by major decision at 149 as the Bombers won the first five bouts to open a 19-0 lead. Senior Nick Calandrino (Emerson/Emerson, N.J.), ranked third at 184 pounds, clinched the victory with a 2-1 decision.

Freshman David Sbrisca (Warren Hills/Stewartsville, N.J.) won by fall at 197 and senior Tyler Daffinee (Binghamton/Binghamton) notched a 12-0 major decision at 174. Ithaca's other winners were freshmen Jon Gregory (Phillipsburg/Phillipsburg, N.J.) at 125, Willie Horwath (Liberty/Bethlehem, Pa.) at 141 and Scott Edwards (Liberty/Bethlehem, Pa.) at 157.
